Stake Conference March 31, 2019

This weekend has been Stake Conference.  Because the Stake Presidency was being reorganized, we had 2 members of the Quorum of the Seventy come to take care of it.  Elders Alan D. Haynie (General Authority Seventy) and Paul H. Sinclair (Area Seventy) were the two that came.  So many wonderful messages were given- especially about how even when we feel inadequate, or even if we feel we might even know better, just as Peter we need to say, "Nevertheless" and carry on the work the Lord has in store for us.  I love that.

What was really neat today though, is that they both referred to our two little girls in their talks.

Before the meeting this morning Elder Haynie was walking through the congregation shaking hands and saying hello.  He came up to us and shook Evelyn's hand.  She gave him a little smile then asked, "why's your hair so crazy?" It took a couple times to understand her question, then we all got a good laugh at it.  He referred to that question, mentioning Evelyn by name, (the only "honest" question he received today) and we all got a good laugh out of it.  At the end of his talk he mentioned that he hoped to see us all on the other side of the veil (and hopefully he will have perfect hair. ha!)

The Primary of West Point and Newburgh 1st also sang prelude and the opening song in the meeting.  Apparently during the opening song, there was a little girl next to Anna that started to cry.  Anna was concerned about what was going on and put her arm around her to make her feel better.  Elder Sinclair noticed this, pointed it out to Elder Haynie and mentioned the sweetness of the little children in the congregation.  It was neat to hear such a sweet thing said about our Anna, as sometimes I wonder about that girl!  I actually saw him point over to her during the song, but I thought he was getting a kick out of the outfit she had picked out today... Black and white flower dress, Purple and orange Halloween tights, and her sparkly blue bunny shoes.  She can be quite the fashionista!

Overall an amazingly spiritual weekend and I'm grateful to have been in the company of such wonderful men.  The spirit they have his amazing and inspiring.  Elder Haynie, during the adult session last night, opened it up to questions and that was such a wonderful experience.  He affirmed that the Lord knows us all by name and that all our efforts will be supported and the gaps will be filled by the grace of our Savior.  Very powerful and wonderful.
